I bought the Acer because it was by far the best specifications for the price and glad I did. Its performance and features are excellent, including wireless LAN BULIT and blue tooth. My only reservation at time of purchase was the lack of RS232 serial ports and a floppy, but the whole time I've had that I have not lost them, and a USB-serial adapter is pretty cheap, and with all the memories USB now, you must use a floppy drive?
The keyboard is large with a separate numeric keypad is great The only negative point about the keyboard is the backslash key is in the wrong place and takes a bit to get used. 
It is great for a laptop to the screen 17 ', and unfortunately comes with a laptop case and it is great, need a big case, but it was easily available (£ 40 from any electrical shop) but the big screen is very awesome.
